Yes Estwing for sure also Vaughan, still made in USA. Photo shows some 25 year old hammers - Vaughan 24oz with 18in handle and waffle face, my all time favorite framer. Craftsman 20oz smooth, favorite finish hammer. Identical to Vaughan. And, Estwing 16oz smooth. Never used it much, prefer the wood handles. Kept it for casual laborers because it can't be broken.

I like Estwing and love Vaughn. Love the wood hatchet handled framing hammers.

I have a Vaughn 19oz "California framer". I love it. Sure beats swinging a metal handled 24oz steel handled estwing. The estwings look great and can't be broken, but wood is a friendlier handle.

Does anyone really swing a hammer all day anymore?

I tried the steel Estwing but it made my elbow hurt after all day hammering. I think the wood absorbs vibrations better. Also tried the hatchet handle framing hammer, can't remember the brand, but the head was too big for toe nailing and I couldn't get used to the angle of the handle. Of course as mikehaugen says this is all in the past. I bought my last framing hammer decades ago about the same time I bought my first framing compressor!

I seem to only use the claw end anymore. Seldom pound much in with a hammer these days, unless a one off staple or nail here or there.

The reason I brought this up is because I just had this discussion with a friend of mine that does remodeling type work. We were talking about hammers and he said he doesn't even know why he carries a hammer anymore. I said he has to because people expect him to "look" like a carpenter.
