This is just my opinion. I don't think you can buy R1s that will stand the stress of the hoe world.

They might not exists. And considering the price of them, not really worth the gamble unless VERY close in ratings. That being said, there are lots of different designs of R4s

Earlier you said: "I think the 3 stick Case setup is more accurate doing delicate work than a 2 joystick setup. But minus delicacy I think a 2 stick is a bit faster. The 4 stick/treadle setup is neither."

That makes no sense at all. If you ignore the far right stick, the 3 stick and 4 stick work exactly the same way.

It makes perfect sense if you've ran both. A joystick configuration by nature is sloppier. If I'm down to moving a single tooth on the bucket 1/2" in any direction I'm better off with 3 stick/4 stick. If all I'm doing is digging a trench or digging out a stump joystick is much better.

Even a sloppy joystick swings smoother and with more accuracy than treadles. The last Case I ran hydraulically fed the swing last. So if I've dumped the bucket and am swinging back toward the job and moving the boom/bucket at the same time the swing is moving at a set speed. If I stop moving the boom/bucket before letting off the swing it would radically speed up. Not good when I'm swinging toward an object that I value.

You'll figure all that out.

I'm not talking about the reference to the 2 stick/joysticks. You said the Case 3 stick is more accurate doing delicate work. Great. You then said the 4 stick is neither. The two systems are the same, it's just that one of them doesn't have an e-hoe, so it has one less lever.

I just tried to explain it. From your experience level you might not understand yet. When you've got more hours in the seat you'll understand what I was saying.

I'll not question your authority in flying a plane since I have no experience in that area.

Contradictory statement. The 3 stick Case, and 4 stick are identical other than the addition of the E-hoe for the 4-stick. It takes pretty much zero seat time to know those facts.

If the 3 stick is more accurate, the 4 stick will also be more accurate....except maybe in Missouri?

I've been down this road with you before. You'll figure it out with time.

Don't worry, it won't change anybody's opinion of you.

I've got to say, I'm with Bart on the understanding of your description of the lever patterns but I've only got at best a few hundred hrs total on backhoe/mini-ex digging and none of that has been with a Case.

So do all 580 case swing the boom with a foot pedal?

No. If it's got joysticks there is no foot treadle.
