I bought one this summer. I'm pretty happy with it, but...

The bearings are made in China, which isn't disclosed on their site. And they don't publish any break strength or working load limit, which I think is important information for those of us using the equipment.

I could have sworn he at least started out not using Chinese bearings, but that said, if they are still high quality bearings then no real harm done. I agree the load ratings should be published. It doesn't cost too much to do the testing of regular snatch blocks here. Perhaps there is no standard applicable to such self-release blocks and the regular standard testing doesn't really suit? Would be worth asking them about this before purchasing.

*edit* I checked a few other brands:
- Farmi don't have a load rating on their site:
self-releasing snatch block

- Labonville do (6t):
Self-Releasing 4" Snatch Block

- Igland has theirs at 6t

My buddy Mark and i have cut a bunch of trees down in the last couple weeks. I finally remembered to bring my GoPro but found the batteries only last about 15-30 minutes in these cold temps.
Here are 3 of the trees on video i speed it up in a few places hence the lack of sound occasionally. The last tree is the most impressive one on the video it makes a pretty good splash even the second tree was 60 feet tall.
Now I know what's been missing on this thread, not enough videos of people cutting trees down, cranking that Husqvarna made me laugh, I have a two year old 550 XP, it start just like yours most of the time, once and a while it starts good, but it is the worst starting saw I ever had.

That water splash was awesome, I concur should of cut the tree lower. I wonder who got their hands wet getting a chain around it, or was the dog chain trained to get it around the tree. So what is firewood of choice in the great state of Michigan, here in Maine I burn red oak, ash, beach birch and maple, all begins with a.

Exactly. He started with European bearings. There was no discussion of a change when the new distributor started selling them.

Weee-oooo. That's a tree.

We cut around six that size. Real pain....had to roll them on the truck because the boom couldn't lift them. They don't get much bigger than that in southern indiana.
