On schedule myself to fully shut it down this year... Still land-rich and cash poor.
Congratulations, For me the best thing was no alarm clock and the hardest thing was keeping track of what day of the week it is.
I retired at 61 1/2 but took 2 short 2 month jobs each of the following 2 years to help out my former company. After that, I told them no more and just finished my 2nd year at full retirement. I am just now getting to where I can occasionally stay in bed till 7AM but still tend to wake up at my normal 0530. If I don't, my wife's German Shepherd usually wakes me before 6 am so there is no sleeping in for me. I have to agree with haroldy, the years just fly by after you pass 55 and continue to accelerate as the years go by. Try to find something to keep you busy and you will enjoy your retirement. Don't do as many do, become a homebody lurker with nothing to do. That kind of life with light the short fuse to the pearly gates pretty fast. I have been able to keep busy on my 11 acre farm + help my neighbors with tractor things, repairing things with my welder, etc. which I enjoy doing because it keeps me active. Enjoy your retirement, but keep busy.
I have a theory about that, and I am sure that I'm right. It goes like this: if you don't know what day it is, it's a sign of happiness!
Or dementia!![]()
Yep, when I retired 14 years ago I had a long Bucket List. Recently it was short enough that I changed the B to a F.![]()
