Those pics are funny. There is a pic of someone hauling a trampoline that brought back a repressed memory. Had a trampoline that I listed on Craigslist cheap. A country neighbor bought it, she lived about 3 miles away. This was a larger trampoline and she tried to load it on a trailer without breaking it down. She mowed for a living and had two grasshopper mowers on the trailer also. She finally gave up a took it apart. Her preferred method of tieing down the mowers on the trailer? Gravity.

Similar to the VW photo, this happened here.

Bozo delivered a 300 lb plastic tank to me on a huge backhoe trailer. He ignored me waving my arms frantically, and drove downhill into a curving dead-end. Plenty of hp but so slippery that he couldn't back out with 2wd.

I finally got his trailer turned around and back out of there. Part of the way it required setting the backhoe's feet and using its bucket curl to drag the monster uphill on saturated ground.

Wow, hard to believe someone would drive a trailer down hill in that slop and expect to get it back out. Well, maybe not.. people drive into my lower drive all the time and attempt to back up a gravel covered hill in 2wd vehicles all the time. I just keep fixing the mounds of gravel they dig out.

Wow, great photos.

That reminds me of one you'll just have to visualize because it was a number of years go. When we moved from northern New England, one of the last things we had to sell was a huge 4,000--5,000 lbs--piece (not pure) of quartz rock I found in the woods. I sold it to a guy and told him to be sure to bring a strong trailer because it was so heavy. I made that very clear.

Anyway, the guy showed up with a borrowed small snowmobile trailer maybe rated for 2,000 lbs. I told the guy absolutely not to do it because the trailer would break but he insisted because he said he hauled lots of heavy loads. OK, sure.

I put a pallet on first because the floor was a little ratty and eased the rock in with my 90 HP loader and it looked bad right away. I said we could unload it and he could come back but he said thanks and off he went. As he went down the drive I could see the axle and body severely bending and tires dramatically bowing out so I grabbed the wife and kid and we high tailed it out there in the other direction. I gave him near zero chance of making the 40 miles home and didn't plan on his problem being my weekend problem.

Every now and then I think of the neighbor he borrowed that trailer from.

EDIT--Wife corrected me and said she recalls the trailer being a rental. Wow, that took some explaining.

Entertainingly, the sign says (roughly) "I have semi-new Washers and Refrigerators for sale with a guarantee" (cant make out the rest after guarantee).

Don't forget to mention there's a couple of triangle signs on the back end.
