27HP Kawasaki Fuel Pump staying on

Fuel pump stays on after cranking. Gas pumping out of overflow tube and mower flooding out. Anybody ever experienced this and if so, is there a relay switch that could be bad or does that sound like the pump or carb? 27 HP Kawasaki, water cooled engine. on a 61 in cut SCAG mower.

Fuel pump normally stays on depending on type. If it is mechanical it is on. If it is electric it should have oil pressure control switch.
Sounds like float in carb is stuck/ has trash under needle valve.

looks like this worked for me: I cut the gas off from tank. removed gas line to carb. Installed a piece of rubber gas line with a small funnel on the end. Held the funnel up above the carb and ran some Seafoam into the carb. I let it soak about an hour. Reinstalled the gas line, and started it up. The engine flooded out twice but then started up and its now running fine. I thank Stimw for his advice. It does appear that there was trash in or under the needle valve.
