Their car was towed to the CLOSEST DEALERSHIP to the roadside breakdown site which was a 60 mile one way trip from their home...and how does one get a loaner car at midnight on a Saturday???? Or a Sunday???

My neighbors posted on Facebook that Onstar was simply WORTHLESS when they called it....why are you defending GM when you don't have any real knowledge of their situation? They tell me they will NEVER, EVER again do business with the dealership who sold them the car. They were stranded on the roadside for THREE HOURS on a bitterly cold night with their three children.

1. Posting the text of Buick's coverage is stating facts, NOT defending GM. That was your INCORRECT conclusion.
2. Why didn't you mention ALL THE FACTS in your FiRST post? First it was 'stuck an hour away from home in severe weather...' Now it's stranded for THREE HOURS with THREE CHILDREN.

Then the should also skip doing business with GM.

The two times I have used Road Side Assistance, once with my 06 F350 (bad fuel gauge) and my 07 BMW (flat tire with run flats) they were to me in under 30 minutes. Both asked 1st if I was somewhere safe and if not they would send out the local police.

In the case of the Ford the dealer sent in a employee and they gave me a Dually off the lot on a Sunday. In the case of the BMW they sent a cab and took my wife 45 miles after dropping off her car at 11 pm to a airport where they put her in a Jeep Cherokee rental.

Well, EXCUSE ME...for all I know the details provided in the text about Buick's coverage came from FORBES MAGAZINE...now, who do I think is more credible...my neighbors (whom I have known for 12 years and see daily) or something I read online that came from a questionable source? And, where is it carved in stone here that a member must provide all the facts in a post? And:
I have made a lot of posts in this thread, as well as being the OP.

Lastly, when I said they were stuck an hour away from home, I was referring to the DISTANCE and not the wait time. Clear, this time?

I am sincerely glad you got that kind of service....it's an example of how companies should do business. Have had an Onstar equipped GM vehicle since Y2K but never used the service....maybe I have been lucky but the first year coverage on both of my GM's was never used and I drive so little now it's a waste of money. Really, the only times I have actually needed Onstar in all that time was when my GMC had a flat last winter and my ex locked her keys inside the car a few years ago. I was able to fix the flat myself and take her a spare key, both times it was actually faster than waiting for Onstar to respond.

There are two drivers in our house, my wife and I. We have an 07 RAV4, 14 Nissan Sentra, a 2000 F150 7700 with about 38,000 miles on it. The F150 is only used to move kids and plow the driveway. When the daughter comes home from England she gets the RAV4 and I drive the truck. I have free inspections on the truck and they always have some comment about the mileage when I bring it in for the inspection.

When we start talking is it cost effective it makes me wonder if we all do not have things we want that is not cost effective.

This past summer we ripped off the wood covering 16' flat dump and replaced with steel plate because that was what I preferred. No the hoist stays clean and stuff dumps out nice. It sets most of the time but is cool when we need it.

Spare vehicles when you are 30 minutes from town as others noted can be a plus. Our tagged vehicles are 2003, 2002, 2000, 1998, 1992, 1989 and 1987. The last three do not get used much because one is the big truck and another the motorhome. We do not trade as you can see but just BUY. :)

Of course they did we get it Ford is God :mischievous: ................MY ancedote is......my GM dealer came out to rescue me and my wife and then helped deliver our baby and then stayed and circumsised him , then drove us to Walmart to pick up diapers and then got us home , made supper for us and followed up by doing the dishes and balancing our cheque book. Then offered to cut our lawn with our Kubota . .......well at least thats how I remember it.
