Lots of tractors... lots of questions

thought I would join up.

I have a Case IH 695 that is overheating and I can't figure it out. New radiator new thermostat (didn't look like the old one it was deeper) and new coolant filter and it still is overheating sporadically.

Then I want to add some rear outlets on a couple of the Deeres.

Trying to get some of this done before the spring.

As to the overheating has the block been flushed? There might be blockage in the water jacket.
I assume the water pump is performing as it should?

I think back flushing the block is in order. I am not sure about the water pump. It seems operational in that usually when a water pump fails it comes apart with noticeable leakage. It almost seems like it might be a weak pump though.

I had two questions on the system. this tractor has a coolant filter. Which I just replaced. on either side of the coolant filter are stop valves (which I haven't touched). the tubes going in are only quarter inch... Is there anything special to do when you install a new coolant filter. That is a new filter to me.

Also, I bought a replacement thermostat... the replacement was about a quarter or half inch longer than the one I took out and the lower disc actually was contacting the lower opening in the housing. Is that ok for operation. I assume the disk lifts off that seat when coolant flows. Or is that disc not supposed to be touching.

After the new radiator was in the tractor took a while to show temperature and then there was a rapid rise to close to red. I idled the tractor back to the barn and it went to mid green I then throttled up to full throttle and it was running great in the middle of the green for five minutes and then went toward red. then idled it back to the barn again. Not sure why it is intermittently heating up. Might try the old thermostat and look for a closer match.

I thought for sure it was the radiator.

And yes we are getting hit with snow hard tonight. I plowed with my 4200 front and back blades set at opposite angles. It is doing a good job this year

Hey its Michigan. Only 6 or 8 " so far. What was that quote from Caddy Shack? I don't think the heavy stuff is going to come down for awhile yet.

Well that is why we moved down here and the fact that the wife is from here. I still have a few relatives up in Detroit but most have moved south by now.

That sounds like a really good decision today!!

Last years winter was brutal. I never experienced gelled deisel fuel until last year. This year is much nicer even with the expected 12" overnight.

It always reminds you that you are alive...
