HEY...why is it okay for young guy to help old guy by being a nice person, but when this old guy uses his tractor to clear a snow clogged and severely congested intersection near his home hoping to prevent an accident from cross traffic, some of the members here give him a hard time saying he is wrong to clear a public intersection because he opens himself to liability??? Why isn't the young guy in the story opening himself to liability because he has the decency to help the old guy?? WHAT A SCREWED UP SOCIETY WE EXIST IN !!!!!
The assistance the young man provided in the incident Mossroad shared is covered by a Good Samaritan law.

Bill, I don't think people were giving you a hard time, just warning you about the possible downsides. Screwed up? Yes.

The Good Samaritan laws vary considerably by state. In some states they only cover trained medical personnel such as nurses, doctors, EMTs. Also screwed up.

Sad some people interpret good advice about possible downsides as receiving a 'hard time'.

Bill,
I've been following your snow plow story. What you did was nice, good and commendable.

Unfortunately, this is the world we live in, and sometimes you open yourself up to liability when trying to do a good thing. I think in your other thread, people were just warning you what could happen to you if something went wrong, that's all. ;)

Maybe 2-3 minutes the guy goes from having a conversation to being shocked back to life. Amazing.

There are no future guarantees in life. Enjoy the present, it is a gift. Thanks for sharing the story.

Hopefully we'll find out if he's ok in the next few days.

Years ago I took the St John's Ambulance first aid training.
I remember the instructor warning us never to use our coats to cover a patient, always ask for a volunteer to provide a coat or blanket.
The reason being that every emergency would cost us a coat or at best a dry cleaning bill.
Same went for compresses, ask bystanders for a shirt or whatever.
My cousin was the 'go to' first call first aid person at the time and it cost him lots $$ in garments belts for (tourniquets) etc.
Sad but that is the way it is.
