How far does the wire go into the metal connectors? Should I strip more of the wire covering? Where do I crimp and where do I not? I am sort of an idiot! Trying to hook up LED lights to my harness. Thx

Those pins look like AMP (or a close relative).
The first two clips (bottom of the picture) should crimp around the insulation. The next two should crimp around bare wire.
There is no reason for the wire to go beyond that point, but these are pins so it really doesn't matter much.

edit: Here is a link to the instructions for the crimping tool they use. There is a picture at the bottom of page 3 that shows the wire insertion.

Let's say a person neglects to put the orange rubber stoppers on the wire prior to putting it all together...any way to get the metal clips back out of the plug?? Lol

Hate it when that happens. If you haven't soldered them, you may be able to spread the crimps by forcing the point of a small awl between the ears. Once they're loose enough to slide the wire out, they should be easy to reopen. If that fails, there's always vinyl electrical tape, or 2:1 heat-shrink tubing.

If you put the connector on already you will need to get the orange lock out. Then use a paperclip to push the lock on the terminal down while lightly pulling on the wire from the back. You then may be able to work the orange water seal over terminals and reassemble.

I was gonna try that but didn't want to risk breaking anything. I have one good one and one without. Taped them both w electric tape. We shall see
