It did not seem like a political thread to me. There was some blaming of political parties and individuals within them, but that happens in many threads and the discussion was almost all about whether or not greenhouse gases (especially those caused by man) raised global temperatures. Occasionally it swung back onto wind generation. I learned a fair bit about some subjects on which I lack knowledge - and not only from those with whom I agree.
It was not particularly friendly at times either. I have no interest in politics, especially those of a country where I do not live, so I will save a lot of time by staying out of it.

The green people are rarely tech people . The green people figure they can have laws passed and make the world a utopia . Problem is you can pass all the laws you want. It doesn't change the number of btu's in a gallon or gasoline or diesel. It doesn't change the height and width of vehicles to seat people so areodynamic drag has no room for improvement. Passing laws do not make the wind blow steady 24/7. Passing laws do not make solar panels produce 100% capacity from sun rise to sun set 365 days a year. Passing laws does not change the elements on the periodic table to provide higher energy density batteries.
Some people watch Star Trek and figure it is a documentary from the future sent back in time for us to watch. Sorry folks there are not materials to store or generate 1KW for 24/7 for months at a time.
