Norton A-V screwed me over big time as well as McAfee. I run the other way from both of them....I use Avast A-V and run Malwarebytes once a week.
I'm running Win7 64bit on an I5 motherboard.

HOWEVER, I do still use Norton Identity Safe for my passwords, and I want to also get rid of that. How do others of you keep track of your passwords and have them automatically fill in on the various websites?

I use LastPass https://lastpass.com/

My issue with Avast (and this might have changed...it's been several years) is that it requires a license key (which they email to you) even on the free version. Seems needlessly complicated, and gives them a valid address to spam you with. I stick with AVG-Free.

If I were the type to believe in conspiracies  I'd say that the AV software companies are responsible for at least a portion of the virii out there as a form of job security.

The military used Norton for years and then the company was sold to the Chinese. We switched to McAfee.

That is what Hotmail is for instead of using your main email.

The date on this linked story (I put a screenshot of the first few paragraphs on to make it easier) is after we quit using Norton. Maybe our people knew something others don't. Maybe it was the DoD's way of punishing Symantec for partnering with a Chinese firm. Either way we quit using them.
