Any vehicle would set out in the open driveway and annual depreciation might be >$1000 a year on a $30K vehicle too.

Used vehicle prices always go up during tax refund season.

It took me over a year to find a used F150 at a price I thought was reasonable that that was through a friend of a friend type of deal. Used trucks seem to have a two part market: Over-equipped, overpriced trucks (I don't need leather and crew cab for my dump runs!) and piles of junk you wouldn't drive if it was given to you. Not much available in that sweet spot in between and sellers know it.

Car Max has several 2007 Dodge Dakotas - no haggle price - from 14K to 17K. So you did pretty good.

The deals i see are 2-3 yrs old w 50 k miles for $30k vs new for $ 30k.
Im looking for one now. Wish i could find a good deal.

That's why we always buy used 2-3 year old cars. Someone else eats the depreciation and we still get a car with warranty left. Used truck, however, are way more than we want to pay, so its 10 years old or older on trucks for us. Just have to keep looking to find that sweet one with low miles and taken care of well. It takes months and months some times.

Checked them out for my kid when he was looking. Found there prices to be about $4k higher then any one else in town for something comparable.
