I have a Mahindra Max 26hst. It is stored in my unheated shed. There is no power there so I can't run any kind of heater. I have some snow that needs to be moved at some of my apartments. Will I damage the tractor by starting it in the 0F weather tomorrow AM?

will you damage your car if you start it in the cold?

No it won't , start it and let it run at 1000 rpm until it warms up. If you don't have a tach, it's just above idle , so that it generates good oil pressure and more cyl. Temps. Forgot what it was, but if it's a diesel, make sure you have added fuel treatment to prevent gelling

Check your manual to find out the winter weight oil for your tractor. Let it warm up fully. On mine the glow plugs need a little more time. Your battery will need to be in good shape!
Good luck!

Don't hurt nothing to add fuel treatment to a gas engine either!!!

What does your Mahindra owners manual have to say about cold starts? Most modern tractors have either glow plugs or air intake preheaters to aid starting in cold weather.
No power?. You can put a propane "Mr. Heat" with a twenty pound bottle (grill sized) next to it and make a big difference if you need to.

Mr. Heat works for me. Single unit burner has 3 heat settings. I have no problems letting it burn in my shed. 1/2 hour of pre heat and your ready to go outside. Tractor is ready- sometimes my open station tractor is alittle cold for its operator.

It is too cold for that. Better send it south to my place where it will get more use over the winter ;).

No problems at zero or even considerably colder. The question is - is there enough charge in the battery to start the tractor. Be sure to run the glow plugs or intake pre-heat and all will be fine. I've started my tractor in wx as cold as we ever get here -25F with no problems. I let it warm for about 35 minuets before moving it at that temp.
