The bark on the cedar logs comes off real easy by just pulling it off or a little effort with a screw driver. The look I like comes from using a sanding disk on a 4 1/2 inch grinder. I can shape it and make my modifications look natural. I've been told that a pressure washer takes off the bark fast and easy, but I haven't tried that myself. I don't own a pressure washer and I don't want to wait for the log to dry before sanding it. The logs that I've seen others use do not have that smooth, rounded, sanded finish that I like.

Weather and work have been interfering with my weekend plans to get this done, but we're still moving along. The roof is on and the wiring is roughed in. Next I will finish the interior walls.

It's an "Eddie Walker Project" - would you expect anything else??

I'm so jealous of those big cedar logs that he uses as support posts on the barn and on the gazebo.

Thank you. We really enjoy them too. Makes it seem more personal after you've spent time working on them, and knowing that they came from our land.

Seems like it rains every weekend here. My progress has gone from painfully slow, to non existent.

Here is the new electric fence charger rated for 2 joules inside the tack room. There is a tester hanging next to it and when I test the voltage at the charger, I get 2,000 volts, and when I test the wire at the end of the run, I get 2,000 volts. I'm dying to touch it and see how bad it is, but I'm too afraid to find out!!! The other charger that we used just for Oscar is below the new one. I figured it's a safe place to store it in case something happens to the new one.

The interior walls of the tack room are now covered in OSB and for fun, I put in baseboards and trim around the door.
