Kubota BX2370
Hoping to buy a battery tender for my BX this summer. Will this significantly increase the life of the battery? I also think that I need to top off the anti-freeze in the BX and I was wondering if I have to use a Kubota version anti-freeze or can I use normal 50/50 vehicle anti-freeze?

I use bat tenders on my boat and suburban. Definitely help with the boat. Batteries were Everstart and lasted 8 yrs on the boat.
The suburban sits most of the time. Tender keeps the system from draining the battery. Bat was 10yrs old when I replaced it.

As to the anti-freeze as long as it is the same type you should be able to use any brand.

I've got a Schumacher battery maintainer from Wal-mart for $20. Works fine. It came with the connections that stay with the battery and alligator clips. Mostly use it on my quad and occasionally on a car that's not being used much (like my summer convertible).

I just ordered a 2 pack of solar maintainers from Northern Tool. At $25/2 I had to give it a try.

For engine coolant, your Kubota uses plain old green antifreeze.
It hasn't been used in cars for some time now.
Find it at the dealer or an auto parts store.
For best results, mix 50/50 with distilled water.
Good Luck!

A battery maintainer will help extend the life of the battery. You need to use ethylene glycol antifreeze.

Here is a Battery Tender thread that has been running on T-B-N since February 2014:

Ta for the links 'jeff'! I didn't know that there was a difference between a trickle charger (which I have) and a minder/tender. Because of that I didn't bother to look at those links.

I looked at this link due to a niggling feeling that perhaps this wasn't one of those 'language barrier' cases between US & Australian English (ie: wrench = spanner or J-cloth = CHUX)

I also got a Schumacer at Wally world and after 6 months is crapped out and over charged the battery. Now I only get the Battery tender brand at Wally world. A bit more but I think it is worth it.

the harbor freight ones willl work but be careful and keep an eye on your electrolyte levels. i had a battery on our ford 800 that totally dried up with the battery tender on it for several years with infrequent use.
