Looking forward to more progress pics.

You said you wanted fast, with that 16HP I assume you are going 22gpm? what size will the cylinder be?

Looks good so far. I especially like the extendable tongue. I've been planning on making one for my dump wagon if it ever warms up.

28gpm, 5.5" cylinder.

The pusher; I think I've got about 75lbs of steel in it.

I used a piece of 1x8" flat stock for the pusher to ride on.

I cut the 6x8 so I could slide the main wedge and four way post through it and weld it on the top and bottom.

Once I got to this point I made a couple changes to my design. I had planned on a 30" cylinder since I have a gasification boiler that takes a 30" stick of wood. I went with a 36" cylinder because I got it for a good price and I figured I could split two 16" logs with one stroke.

I also decided to put the rear axle underneath the wedge. I haven't seen any like this before but it just seems like a better layout... No wheels to trip over where you naturally want to stand. And the out feed table will pretty much be right over them.

Not the best weight distribution for towing but that wasn't something I was worried about. And this way I won't have to worry about a rear kickstand to prevent the splitter from tipping up when I put a big log through it.

Holy Snikees Batman ...

It won't have a blazing fast cycle time, but I figure having the power for a 4 or 6 way wedge will balance things out.
