Anyone using rotella T6 5w-40 year round? Im at 25 hrs on my ck2510 and would like to change over to synthetic. I'd like to get the original stuff out of the engine before the 50 hrs mark? I use rotella in just about everything I own. I'm concerned about warranty since the ck2510 manual only specs. 15w40? I cant imagine it would do any harm?

I would be interested as well. I have been doing research on T6 and plan to switch my BX and car to T6.
I have been using T5 in the BX and it has been great in the cold weather.

I use T5 also but don't all the cold weather.

I've been using Rotella T6 5w-40 year round in my DK 35 since its first oil change 13 years ago.

I have been using T6 for 5 years, 600+ hours and year round. Change it every 100 hours and it starts great at zero degrees.

I use T6 for everything, gas, diesel, it gets T6.

Started using T6 since the first change at 50 hours. 800 plus hours now. Works good in the Winter temps and the Summer. Still change at every 100 hours.

I've used T-6 since it's inception; seems to me the Rotella synthetic was using a different designation when I first started with it? Over ten years at any rate

If you are really concerned, contact your Kioti rep and get his answer in writing. If it ever comes to a warrantee claim and the oil you used is the basis of the claim - what advice you get here regarding what oil to use will have zero impact on the outcome.

My Kubota dealer said - use the oil that Kubota recommends during the warrantee period and after that period - use whatever you want. In other words - do not let the brand of oil you choose be the basis of a rejected claim during the warrantee period.

I will speak to my dealer just to make sure. I did notice Walmart also carries a full synthetic 15w40 diesel oil from Royal Purple?
I understand they make good stuff.

I use 5W-40 synthetic, no issues. I believe as long as it has the -40, the W part only refers to the start temp, with 5W the best in cold weather.

Royal Purple is also a good oil but the 15W-40 (15 starting) might be a little heavy for these nasty Winter temps. Kioti calls for 10W below 32'F. See this chart. View attachment 413949

Victor, Thank you for the chart. I could be wrong but I believe the oils listed on the chart are all Dino oils? It's my understanding synthetic oils have much better flow rates at lower temps. I think the T6 is good down to minus 30F and the RP is good down to minus27F. I do use a lower hose heater that is on a timer and this really makes starting much easier. I did have a few times where it was so cold the engine still cranked hard.

This is flat out wrong. Use an oil that meets the spec and you are covered under federal law by the Magnuson Moss act for warranty purposes. Rotella t6 5w40 will meet the spec.

If Kioti specs call for 10w-30, how does Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 Full Synthetic oil motor meet that spec?

The OP said his manual called for 15w-40. Rotella 5w-40 should meet and exceed that spec, shouldn't it ??

Any 0w40 or 5w40 or 10w40 will meet specs for 15w40. At starting temperature, it'll always be heavier than at running temperature. That's the way oil is.

Unless you're running engines in the deep south, you don't need xxw40. An xxw30 will do. Our VW Jetta TDI specs 5w30 for all locations.

You are absolutely right there, liberty. I guess I didn't express myself correctly. During warrantee use an oil that meets or exceeds whatever specs your tractor manufacturer recommends - better?? At least that's what I meant to convey.

You certainly DO NOT have to use the oil manufactured for your tractor company - just an oil that meets or exceeds their specs.

And I have no idea if any brand or type of oil meets or exceeds anybody's specs without talking to somebody who would know.

And actually, since its your tractor, you can use any oil you want whether it meet anybody's specs or not.

I was told by my local dealers mechanic that the 5w-40 would weep through the engine gaskets. I call BS on this, but want to throw it out there.

I currently run T6 5w-40 in our 2 Toyotas, and have for years with no problems. I run this oil because of its increased zinc content.

Any confirmation that the thin synthetics will weep?

Think you got that backwards, basically 15w40 viscosity is 15 weight at <100 F and 40 weight at >100 F.
