Check out my profile and my threads on my Kioti CS2410. I love mine, although I will concede that the 60" deck does scalp on some of my high spots.

I just picked up a BX 2370-1 came into my yard with 2 hrs.on the clock. I was torn between the Massey Ferguson GC 1715 and the Kubota BX 2370-1. The Massey would have been my first choice but price and avaliability of parts and Dealers around my area is what made me go Kubota this time. Its replacing a Massey GC 2300 [07] with 1200 trouble free hrs.Hope I've made the right decission.

Yanmar has some new sub-compacts and compacts I believe. Only one really the size of a bx

Products - Yanmar Tractor

When yanmar was the 2400 series of Cub Cadet . . I was interested. Comparable to a bx2350 type unit (size /price /features ) . . but then they split. Yanmar dealer is now 50 miles away . . . but I'm planning on stopping by there in the next 2 weeks to see what they offer.

What prices were you considering on the 2 units?

Since you're asking about multiple brands, you may get a broader information base regarding 'subcompacts' if you post in the general buying/pricing forum.

AxleHub,
The only tractors I have seen in this area that compare in size to the BX is the JD1023 or 1025. Everything elsewas more the size of the Kubota "B" series. I had the 54" deck on my BX1850 and it worked very well for mowing.

On paper the bx1870s would appear to be my natural choice. But I'm concerned that I may have future needs for a 23 hp size. Also I keep wondering about attachment choices. As I understand it bx18s have a different bucket and deck than all the others. Cost and sizing on one side vs future needs on the other side ??? And J.D. . . the attachment and driveon features are attractive . . And many J.D. dealers in the area. But everyone has a J.D. and I'd need to see some substantial reasoning for a J.D. to counter the "everyone has one" group. Maybe they would be competitive to a Kubota . . But "everyone has one " is usually not my style. I like unique and beneficial :)

A very logical point. But I figure those in the kubota area will have a perspective that is more aware of why kubota is a consideration . . and your opinions might show past reasoning as well as a finer tuned "I wish it did this or that". Owners are usually pretty good spotters of weaknesses :)

The Massey was approx $1000 lower in price. What steered me away was that it was a 2014 model vrs the 2015 also the massey only came with the loader. I would have to had buy the mower deck extra [$ 2500} thats what the massey would have been. The Kubota came with the loader,60" mmm, front grill guard, rear weight box, plus block heater all installed. So in my books I was way ahead of the game. For some reason 3 dealers that I talked to sell both the Massey and Kubota line and all 3 all steered me towards buying Kubota. They say that they sell 50 - 1 Kubota's compared to Massey. Now here's what I did two years ago I bought a used Kubota BX 2350 so that my son could be out doing stuff with me . So I had both the Massey and Kubota to work with. What I found was that I was spending more and more time on The Kubota so last fall I sold the Kubota and now this winter/spring have just bought the new Kubota so once I get it all set up to what I want, I'll be putting the Massey or sale.

I was also more interested in the Yanmar/Cub 2400 tractor when looking several years ago. The Yanmar by itself only lists a single range drive. This is disappointing. I like the loader specs, the placement of the loader joystick, the overall design in general, but I don't like the single drive range and I think the 3PH lifting spec is low for this class. It does have good gpm flow on the hydraulics though. I think I'd still be leaning toward the BX2370. In my area the Deere's are overpriced and don't get negotiated. You take it or leave it. With the plastic hood and non-competitive pricing, I'll leave it.

Kubota makes a great machine. I'm sure the others do too, but what I've priced and looked at in this class in my area, the Kubota wins most times.

Nice post Massey . . not because it recommends kubota but because its nicely reasoned and clearly defined. These types of posts are exactly why I didn't go to the general forums.

And with so many new or updated subcompacts today . . its a challenge to find the better finalists.
