One of my kids went to the state geography bee. That was something. She lasted a few rounds. Kid that won went on to national. That kid was from a home school family that my wife knows. They've had two kids qualify for the national spelling bee and one for the national geography bee two or three times! Crazy smart kids with crazy smart parents (mostly mom). Nicest kids you'd ever meet. :thumbsup: They home schooled because they had a whole herd of kids, didn't trust public schools and thought they could do a better job.... they did.

I noticed that many of the spelling bee finalists were home schooled, and that second-generation Indians excelled.

You familiar with that show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? That's about the cutoff where my wife and I couldn't help our two girls with school anymore. It was beyond us. :laughing:

And, to stir the pot a bit, shouldn't it be "grammar nazis" as grammar certainly is not a proper noun and **** in this context is not referring directly to the historical entity?
