Ultrarunner sorry to hear that.
We own some vacant farm land about 9 miles from our home. There is nothing out there within a mile each way, but three houses across the highway. The old lady that used to live in one of the houses was having a conversation with me. I mentioned it will be nice to move way out in the country here, some day in the future, to get away from the crime in the city. She told me her husband was mugged in their driveway a few years earlier....
Apparently they watched him cash his paycheck at the grocery store, followed him home, lumped him on the head when he got out of the car, knocking him out. In there attempt to get his wallet, they ripped the seat of his pants off of him. She heard something, came out the door to see here unconscious husband face down in the driveway with his half his pants down. She thought he was dead. He ended up OK, but she said "Thugs have cars. You aren't safe anywhere." and that stuck with me since about 1990.![]()
. What a wonderful story about seeing it built!!!! It wasn't just a car, it was an adventure she recalled every time behind the wheel.
About sums it up... reminds her of Dad every time she was behind the wheel...
Sometimes I think I'm taking it harder than she is... she is still hopeful... me, not so much... I've seen hulks dumped on our land and it isn't pretty.
It really was a highlight for both of us... never would have thought a huge company like Toyota making many thousands of cars at that plant would ever do something like this... all we had to do was show the letter and we were green lighted all the way... they even had to pull the car to the side the night before at the last minute because production was running ahead of schedule...
Oil Changes, set of tires, battery and brake pads has been it... I doubt Mom would even consider one of the new space ship cars as she calls them...
One of her dear neighbors washes it every Sunday morning so it is spotless when she goes to church... he has been doing this since the first week she brought it home...
Thanks guys... she is reading these and said what a wonderful group I have at TBN!
