This is how it's going 35 miles north of the Texas line.

About like around here, but we have more snow. Getting freezing rain now and more tomorrow to top our snow. .Many single digit nights this winter. We were going pretty good until Feb, December had some pretty cold weather, but no snow, But we have had plenty in Feb. At least for around here. But still we can't hold a candle to what they have up East and north East.

Good news for the guys down south! We have finally come up to single digits above zero. I guess for the rest of this winter we will be above 0F. that sure beats -40F weather that we've had for the past 2 months.
Some water and sewer pipes froze in town. My own toilet was flushing real slowly and did back up once, we got that dealt with and all is almost good now.

There was a VERY SLIGHT chance of freezing rain last week and we had to shut down the entire state of Louisiana

I just noticed yesterday that a section of my sidewalk has frost heaved about 1/4" next to my driveway pad. We never had that issue in
Southern Arkansas. Those days of 15 and 17F weather must have really frozen the ground pretty deep. We are supposed to have a very warm 63F day today (3/3/15) followed by more cold with snow / freezing rain tomorrow.

This past Friday I noticed water dripping into the top of one of my windows, which is under a place where two roof lines come together. Sure enough, I had a massive ice dam that had formed so I had to go onto my roof with a hoe and breakapart the ice dam. Luckily it was already warming up so my work got easier as the sun weakened the ice dam. I started off only being able to get 1-3 inches of it off at a time, by the time I was done I as breaking off huge iceberg like chunks.

I had never had an ice dam before and we've had bigger snow storms. I think the cause of this one was type of precip we had... an alternating mix of rain and snow that caused water to get trapped and freeze.

After my work had finished:

For a North Carolina boy, this was a new experience!
