I have to say, that's what has me scratching my head a bit, and why I asked about using a MMM instead. I do agree that a lawn mower can certainly have a lower COG though...

Most any tractor can back a finish mower up that hill, if that is all you want to do go for it. Having it look good over a longer time span I would choose a smaller mower. The area in question by the house is small, a little exercise is good for all of us. String trimmers never look as good as a mower either.

Unless you have one on wheels, such as the DR trimmer/mower.

I have one of those too. It is fine for big stuff with a .155 string.

I would just cut that hill any direction I felt like going on any particular day, BUT try it on our front hill and you would have that BX upside down in a hurry. Just ask the neighbor. When he tried to demonstrate how great his BX was (against my warnings to not do it) for cutting compared to my old JD a few years back. He knows now why I cut straight up and down and never deviate from that!

As much as I appreciate the comments , I can see that pictures do not do the slope justice. I have done wheelies with my Husqvarna going up that hill , or stopping too quickly on the roll back down in reverse , you could never ever ride that slope sideways with any tractor the upper 50% of the hill. My Kubota does have 2 inch rear wheel spacers and so I know what side slope it is capable of . That is why only backing that tractor up the hill would work. And I have got enough confidence from some here that a finish mower will be able to backed up most of the hill.
My wife cringes when I run the old Husqvarna up that hill and it only manages it when it is very dry and up one slightly less steep approach. When I can get to the top and manage to turn around and come back down, I am flying by the bottom and hydrostatic can't hold me back.......the safety police would have a hey day with those blades turning at the same time and when I hit the gravel driveway I need to be quick and lift the deck or rocks are flying at my truck or garage....smile.............I guess we all have some hills we are just stubborn enough to want to use the equipment on............I figure I will be slightly safer using the Kubota and finish mower backing up as far as I can. (and yes will consider a chain guard to protect my windows...smile
