Legal to open carry a pistol on a bicycle in your state?

There are differing opinions on whether open carrying while peddling a non-motorized bicycle is legal or not. There is no case law that has tested it in Michigan. I don't know of anyone who is willing to be the test case or not.

I am not a lawyer. I would not seek legal advice from a policeman. Various LEO's are all over the map on their opinions on various gun laws. Seek the advice of a lawyer, and then ask them to site the law and including case law.

Also, there is a lot of debate among 2A supporters and gun owners as to the pros and cons of open carry in general.

Sorry, but how is that possible....asking a lawyer to CITE the law and including case law when said case law has not been tested in Michigan...???

I personally would take the advice and opinion of ONE police officer I have known well for 15 years over the advice and opinions of 100 scum-sucking leeching lawyers !!!! PERIOD !!!!!

I'm not telling you specifically, just advice in general to who ever reads this. Perhaps I worded it poorly.

My point is that it is better to seek law advice from a lawyer. Police officers are often not well informed on the law or cases that have been tried. And a good lawyer will provide cites from the law and will be informed on case law as determined by actual trials. So my point about getting the case law is in general to gun laws not just open carry on bicycles.

But we are each free to seek advice from whomever.

You might take a look at a gun forum in Michigan. One is Michigan Gun Owners forum. There are several 2A lawyers active there. There is a recent thread on open carry on bicycles, with some lawyers posting.

When will you be open carrying while riding your bicycle? Or will you ask your wife to? Be sure to ride where a police officer sees you.

Yah, nobody likes lawyers until they are handcuffed in the back of a police car.

The penalties for breaking gun laws can be quite severe. And ignorance is no excuse. Nor is but my friend the cop told me he wasn't aware of any law against it. It's up to you. I don't really care what you do. I'm just trying to bring up things for others to consider.
