Thanks for the comments. I think the LP is the better deal. I just found one more option. It is a used Mahindra ST72. The owner says it has only mowed about 10 acres. I can get it for $650. Has anyone ran one of these?

The question would be how many times did he mow 10 acres with it. :D

There are several listed on tractor house. 2 of them have a $1,700 price on them, so $650 sounds almost too good to be true. I know nothing about that cutter, but the price sounds like it would be a medium duty cutter.

I would check it out carefully. It could be a steal, or it could be a scam, or he might have run over an anvil with it. But you'll never know until you look at it.

I have a 6' KK finish mower I purchased from the previous owner of our property. Unsure how long he used it, but I use it several times a week all summer for 8 years. It is a great mower, heavy and well built and not low end. If the new KK mowers are similar I think you would be happy with it.

But look at your choices and buy what feels right for you.

I believe the mahindra mower is built by kodiak. My choice would be the landpride.i have owned a landpride 1860 rotary cutter for the last nine years, excellent machine.

I have the New king kutter 60". It is of very nice quality and cuts well. It has the additional brackets to allow more float over uneven ground which is nice. There is a very nice video of it by Ted from everything attachments. I also like the way they domed the steel on the top to Shed water.

This past summer I hit a concrete curb with it I thought for sure I damaged something. Push in the clutch quickly shut it down and check it out. No problems and back to work I went. I wouldn't recommend this but just to let you know it did handle it.

I didn't even know Mahindra made a cutter??? Oh wait, they don't. Maybe the Mahindra guys can step up and prove me wrong on that one??

Buy offbrand and you'll get offbrand quality.

KK has a niche. It's mid to low end. If that's your goal, go for the KK. If your goal is the higher end of quality, go for the LP.

I have a 6' KK with a 90 HP gearbox that I was using clearing up some cutover land. It is a little wider than my tractor. I drove between two trees and caught the cutter in them. It bent the deck and folded it under on one corner. I also have a land pride 1860 and it is much stronger built.

I guess it depends on what you call off-brand. I believe Kodiak makes the Mahindra cutter. Kodiak is American made and has a pretty good reputation from what I can tell. It wasn't that long ago that Kubota was considered off-brand. I am sure it still is by some.

I'm not sure I've ever saw a Kodiak cutter. Over the years I've searched cutters for purchase. I rarely saw a Kodiak brand. Not saying they are bad. Just saying there is a reason that they are rare. Maybe I need to do a "search" and count the number of Landpride cutters I see versus Kodiak. I'll report my findings. :)

As for Kubota, in the World us here on TBN live, Kubota has been a leading brand of tractors and equipment for at least 20 years. I'm not sure how you would search on this website to find someone that would consider Kubota off-brand. :)

True but for some of us who have been around a while, we can remember when they were just starting.
