Last night at 1030 there were 2 tomato sprouts. This morning at 1030 there were quite a few more.

I got my first seeds in the dirt this afternoon. I think they will be safe from frost by the time they come up, but I stuck with stuff I could afford to lose, just in case.

Be a while before I plant anything outdoors/we've gotten over 3 feet of snow in the past 2 weeks.
Anyhow, I've always used Vesey's Veseys
Family run operation with quality seeds aimed mainly at the NE market (shorter seasons) but might be worth a look - they have a Canadian & US website, catalogues are free + you can order on line. They do carry a mix of smaller peppers that I am going to try this year (start the seeds next month).
I no longer plant many seeds or grow any of my own starts...
Instead, I dig all of my cana bulbs each fall, store them in a cool place and replant them in the early spring. I always have a LOT of them left over, so I take them to my local green house, where the owner trades me all the veggie plants and seeds I need, even up for them...
She sells them and everyone is happy...

I sell potted Cana's for the greenhouse each year at my market
At the farm were I work we grow the tall gladiolus for cutting and sell them bunched at the farm stand and farmers market. My boss never digs up his 500 bulbs to save, just replaces them each year so in my off time I dig and save all the bulbs I want. I used to grow glads before and I will continue too. I have close to 1000 bulbs right now and years ago when I just a boy there was a local gladiolus farm here in town. People came from far and wide to see them blooming and buy flowers!![]()
