Power Service in the white bottle

I have used Power Services fuel conditioner since early 1990's. Add a large jug every time I get diesel tank filled, usually 200-250 gallons. Sent from my iPad using TractorByNet

I do the same for my 500 gallon tank, so I never have part jugs around. Can't honestly comment on its effectiveness, but we've never had a problem with our diesel engines.

I just consider it (perhaps unnecessary) cheap insurance.

Just an FYI.

I receive my email reply from Power Service regarding shelf life.
PS stated as long as the container has the original seal the shelf life is indefinite.
After opening they recommend it be used within one year.

My bottle is three years old and seems to be doing its job this winter.

Not sure how long a bottle lasts me . They are sending me a new bottle as the problem I had was a fluke thing caused probably from sealant leaking into container in manufacturing of the bottle . Their product caused the jelling affect when in it came in contact with it .

PS, Howes, etc are not bad products by any standard. I use Schaeffer fuel additives primarily because it is more cost effective. I buy in 5 gal cans, as I go thru quite a bit of fuel in a year. Roughly 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of application compared to the off the shelf major brands. Basically costs me about 3 cents per gallon of diesel. Compare that you what you might be paying. Keep me posted if you find something that is more cost effective. I go thru over 20,000 gallons of diesel a year, so I am always looking for a way to save some pennies.

Goofed. Stated 3 cents per gallon to use the stuff I am getting from Schaeffer. Actually 2 cents a gallon. Yeah, only a penny difference, but with the fuel I use in a year, that penny difference is $200.00.

I recently started using PS products, white bottle for winter and the silver bottle for warm weather. Last year i had a nagging problem with my JD 6400 dying randomly. Even though i had just replaced the lift pump in the tank and cleaned my tank in April 2014. By July 2014 tractor was dying suddenly but would always restart and run a while and die again. Finally found that because i had got water in the fuel, "algae" had formed inside the tank and a slimy black jelly substance had almost completly covered the pickup screen on the pump. PS makes a product called "Bio Clean" that kills the bacteria and my tractor now runs perfect!!!!! There are also other manufacturers of this product including JD. "BE WARE OF WATER IN YOUR TANK"

FPPF also makes a good biocide, Killem. Appropriate name if there ever was one! I will dose the fuel a few times a year with a shot of Killem just as a preventative measure. A 12 oz bottle lasts a LONG time.
