Utility Grapple

Anybody have experience with a grapple like this? Guy selling a tractor has this attachment with it and I'm just wondering what the pros and cons are of this style vs most the others I see on here.

It is a Bobcat skid steer Utility Grapple, made with forged tines. Utility Grapple for Loaders and Toolcat - Bobcat Company

Here is a snip from the website.

You got a steal on that IMO! Nice work.

I ended up getting it for $500.

Yes. For $500, it's certainly worth that. It will be very useful cleaning up debris and moving piles. Just be careful when engaging the ground. Let us know how it works out.

What I mean is when you tilt the grapple forward, and the teeth are angled into the ground, (what I do when I want to plunge the grapple into the ground and dig under a root ball) , and drive forward, I think this design is not meant for that function

This is my first grapple, clarify that statement if you would..

This is the design referenced, not yours.

If I was doing farm work I would say that is a very good grapple and well worth the price of a grand.

By the looks of it the lid opens extra wide so you can probably spear round bales like you said plus with the spears on the bottom it would probably work really well at skimming up bedding and manure from stall or the manure pile. I'm guessing it would also work really good for picking up cut brush.

One other thing that this grapple looks like it would be really good for that others aren't particularly good at would be scarifying a pasture so you could overseed it. All those tines will just scratch the dirt deep enough to get some soil exposed so you could than go broadcast seed.

Like others have said if you are looking to use it for grubbing up roots and stuff there are better models out there but if you are planning on using it for farm related task it would probably work very well for you and the price he is asking is more than reasonable of the style of farm grapple.
