Correct, I am looking at the 13" bench top model with 16 speeds. It would sit on bench where the small one now sits since drawers for bits are below. Also looking at the HF cross slide vise. Could have really use one last week drilling numerous holes in some 1" sq. tubing to make modifications to newHF welding table which is too low for my liking. Stopped at HF Tuesday and picked up their 13" x 16 speed bench top drill press. Had a 25% off coupon so, out the door for $195. Will pick up the 6" cross slide vise next visit.

FWIW, stopped at two Sear Stores to take a look at their 12" BT Drill Press. Evidently they don't stock them so, only way you can see one is to order. No thanks.

Busy with Houston Livestock Show until Sunday so, hope to get new drill press assembled in a week or so. Will post a new thread on it.

What does everyone use to clean off the sticky protectant from the unpainted machined surfaces? I have heard that kerosene work but , not tried it.

Once clean, what do you use to keep parts from rusting?

Excellent suggestion. Reading through the reviews, it is used mostly for deer feeders. One reviewer said it did not work on a tractor and one reviewer said it did, but most everyone liked it. It would be an inexpensive experiment. Thanks.

I think that the deer feeders and game cameras use a wet cell lead acid battery, so if this works on those, it should work on a tractor battery. Sometimes people try a float charger on a battery that has already failed and blame the float charger - so that may be the case for some reviewers of this charger.

I don't do anything special to prevent rust and except for a tad of surface rust, it has not been a problem. My drill press is 900 feet from salt water with the prevailing breeze carrying salt air to my barn most days.

Agree. There is no law that prevents complete imbeciles from writing reviews online. I don't know what the appropriate latin phrase would be but if caveat emptor is a warning that "buyers beware" there should be an equivalent latin phrase to warn those who read online reviews.

No kidding. Over in the Yanmar forum I was discussing a starter I bought from rareelectrical via ebay four years ago. The starter remains flawless and this dealer has 70,000 ebay positive feedbacks. I looked through his few negatives four years ago and one was that UPS's standard, published delivery time was unacceptably slow so that earned a negative. Another fool neg'ed when he couldn't get two alternators in series to produce 24 volts. There wasn't a single neg related to product quality, just negs for a high return fee when the customer ordered the wrong part etc and other screwups that were clearly the customer's fault.

Looking at rareelectrical's recent feedback was similar, I didn't see a single one related to product quality. I think 100% were shipping-related. Hardly a reason to attack a dealer's reputation.

I feel lucky that when I sold on Ebay I never got a negative feedback on some 250 transactions. But I had to fulfill a few wildly unreasonable expectations to maintain this, such as refunding a customer who an hour later won a different auction for the same item at lesser cost then started threatening me with a neg immediately - late in the evening on a Friday night. It's better to go along with unreasonable customers than earn a first negative feedback but that was a hard choice.

I found some as new as 1-15 that did not exclude predator products.

That's been my experience as well. I'd love to get one that will work on their sawmill.
