Thanks you guys, I opted for the 54" slide-in because I wanted a slightly narrower profile, which I think will come in handy on my property. I haven't tried taking it off yet but I will give that a shot tomorrow. I might leave it off for now since it will be awhile until mowing season.

Park on a paved surface, disconnect mower drive shaft and lifting points. Tilt the bucket about 15 degrees, lower it and raise the front end off the ground and slide the deck out.

or just put it in 4x4 and drive the front wheels up on some blocks, a 2x4 works for my GC2400.

Nice you've got the newer FEL it appears. My 1705 from last year is still running great, about 60 hours now, cut a ton of grass, shoveled lots of snow this winter, and dug out a massive part of the back yard, moved a lot of dirt and moved a lot of supplies/stuff!
It's a great unit you'll love it! I have the non-drive over 60" deck from last year and it's not bad to remove.
I ordered up some wheels/axles to allow me to store the deck vertical for the winter that were awesome - I highly recommend them!

I also added the toothbar from BXPANDED and love it as well!

enjoy your new toy!
Chris

The toothbar is one of the first things I want to get! The wheels/axles for the mower deck you mention, what exactly is that? I took the mower deck of until the grass starts growing and it's sitting in the middle of my garage floor. I'd really like to get something to stand it up against the wall for the winter like you are doing.

Johnnymossville, he's referring to these axles & small plastic wheels; they aren't cheap, but very well made and hold up well. Makes storing the MMM a cinch, though a smooth-surface floor helps a lot. You pull out two of the MMM casters and replace with the axles. I don't remember the name of the guy I got them from, but I'm sure a quick search on TBM will find the source. PS-- they're also very useful for cleaning & servicing the mower deck.

It's kind of hard to see, but that's the MMM under the kids' bed sheet between the boat and the wall; you can just see one of the small wheels there. It takes up about 13" of space.
