Wider tires on front of 2WD

I use wider tires on my MF 135 that I use to feed round bales. It does help with flotation but that means it tends to skate more on turning. The big problem with wider tires is the extra leverage it can assert on the spindles. Bigger diameter is a better way to solve the problem.

Larger diameter is not going to increase flotation, they will just let you bog deeper before you start to drag the frame. Larger tires carry more load, float better and as for skidding during turning, that is what steering brakes are for.

Using the brakes does not work when the differential is locked. Larger diameter keep rolling much longer than small wide tires. The bales I make are about 1000lb FWIW.
