I have a 94 B7100 with FEL that I've had for a few years. I've never put much on the back other than a hitch basket and the 3 pt lift has always worked intermittently. When I bought a brush hog and attached it, the lift quit working completely. FEL works fine. I changed the filter, but no help. Is it time to tear into the mechanism under the seat and check out the piston and cylinder? Are there parts for repair available or do you have to replace the entire valve assembly? Any other troubleshooting tips? I saw something about a screen but not sure where it is.

Thanks

You may have a sump screen, but that will affect everything.

If you install a hyd gage in the hyd system, you can see what the hyd is doing.

Does it also have a FEL and does it work correctly. Good FEL indicates good pump.

So if the pump is pumping, that fluid is going somewhere.

For instance, if you have the gauge installed, and you raise the 3pt lever and get no pressure, then that means that the hyd flow is gong somewhere other than the cyl.

Could be a bad valve, bad piston seals, or bad relief.

If the descent knob is screwed all the way in, you will have no down action.

You might check and or turn the knob under the seat to the left and see if the arms go down.

If the knob is screwed in and you try and raise the 3pt , do you hear the relief valve whining. If you did that and looked at the gauge, it would show max cyl pressure.

Do some logical trouble shooting before tearing anything down.

Yes, FEL works fine.

Are those gauges available Tractor Supply/Harbor Freight/Northern Tool type places? I downloaded the shop manual but haven't looked at it yet. Does it cover using the gauge?

I'll try playing around with the knob, but lifting is the main problem. I had to rig a come-along over the ROP just to lift the bush hog enough to use it. It's a decent workaround, but I'd rather get it working as it should.

Look at the control lever adjustments.

there is a rod and slide lever that may be out of adjustment.

Is there a flow valve under right hand side of seat that might have got turn.

Well turns out the problem is intermittent again. I did some more testing and found that the PTO lift was sometimes lifting very slowly, almost too slowly to notice, so I did some mowing and it actually started working full speed occasionally. For now, I'll try to use it as is and hope that it works enough to get the clearing done I need to do.

Just to close out this thread, what I discovered is that when the PTO lift doesn't work, all I have to do is jiggle the FEL control lever left and right and the PTO lift starts working. I'm not sure what's going on, but this works every time, so no reason to take anything apart.

This is similar to my attitude often - works for now, not TOTALLY BROKE.

If you could spend more time on it and maybe give us more info you might get it fixed.

On my B7610 I would be in a world of hurt if the 3pt lift didn't work. Please keep us posted so I can look back at your problem to fix the one I don't have yet.
