This photo is from last month, when I was running out of firewood from not being prepared.

One of these years I'll get ahead!

I'm burning green wood right now. Can't get it hot, takes forever just to get it going. I swore an oath that it'll never happen again. From now on I'm going to be sure to keep a season ahead.

Uh oh! That's not healthy for your chimney! I hope you haven't burned enough to cause a problem.

It's hard not to smile at a picture of Bubbles. My chimney never gets dirty. I think I may have too much draft maybe. The pipe is a straight run out of my stove and the end of it is over the peak of my roof. From the top of my stove to the top of my pipe is only about 12 feet. That said I do keep a close eye on it especially when I'm into the green stuff I'm burning now.

Same here, it's not easy to burn all the vapor off the wood just to start getting heat out of it.

Not the stuff in the picture. I wanted to get far ahead so I don't get stuck burning green wood again so I got this from a logging outfit. Just had to buck it up and haul it home. I usually get three or four cord off my own land a season. It's going to be a while before I'm able to get into the woods though, we have copious amounts of snow. First year with a tractor so I'm looking forward to it. I've always had to cut it in 6 foot lengths an skid it out on my own using a pulp hook. That gets hard on the back.
