See if you have a dolmar dealer around you. For a big saw, look at a 7900 or 7910. Should be a few bucks cheaper and a bit more power than the 460.

I've wanted a dolmar or Makita for a long time. Unfortunately they never show up used here. Both of the bigger saws in looking at are used. The 272xp is $325, and the MS 460 is $600. If I sell the MS 361 I'll only have to come up with $100 to buy the 460. If I sell the 036, I'll be able to buy the 272xp and pocket $25-50.

Same here. Rarely see the dolmars used anywhere other than ebay.

There was actually a pair of 7900s on craigslist this spring. The guy wanted $750 each, so I didn't bother inquiring.

Havent followed prices much in the last 2-3 years. But thats about what they sold new for a few years back. The new 7910's with EPA crap or whatever I think are more. But everyones prices went up as a result.

Right, didn't mention that they were used too. Pretty well used as I recall. I'm sure they still had plenty of life, but for that price, I figured I'd wait for a Stihl or Husky.

Stihl and husky are about the only saws I ever see used locally. (other than old crap and box-store junk). Never see echo's or dolmars. Only way to find them used is ebay and then its a gamble. But the bright side, there usually isnt much competition bidding. I have bought alot of dolmars on ebay. And my general rule....bid as if expecting the worse. Then if there is nothing wrong and the saw is a good runner, I got a great deal. If there are issues, I didnt get burned as I didnt pay premium. And can either fix the saw and still have a good deal, or save for parts, or re-sell parts on ebay. So far that has worked well for me. But I dont buy the newer ones either. I like the old late 80's -mid 90's saws. 115i's, 116si's 120si's etc.

My line-up MS1925, 310, 361. I wouldn't give up any of them. Bought a 441 Saturday. I'm 80 and couldn't start it. Took it back Monday and the dealer had a struggle getting it going. I started it with no problem when I got home but it was still 'warm'. I'll try a cold start on it tomorrow. If no go it'll go back to the dealer at a discount.
I'm working to remove a 1/2 mile long row of big willows. My 261/28" bar looks like a toothpick next to them. I figured a 441/32" would be a good combo for the felling.
