i don't think i could move that log without a larger tractor (or a not so green log) that log is green elm, over 36" diameter on the butt and over 16ft long.
If it lifted the back end up and the log too, it might handle it. Without proper counter weight we will never know! Safety second I always say!

Why anyone works a tractor without proper counter ballast is still one of those great mysteries I guess. :mur::thumbdown:

I have 3,500 pounds of ballast on the rear of by 32 hp tractor. I would hate to have any less. With only 1,500 I can still get the rear wheels off the ground.

grapple is a 74" wildkat extreme root rake. bought it from Ritchie Brothers 14xx with ta and their "fee"

If it is firewood just mark it off and cut it again. You are going to need to cut it anyway. I am not about maxing out my tractors, that is how "oh ****" happens.

While pushing to the max is a recipe for trouble having your tractor properly ballasted for loader work moves the max line for both safety and lift ability. You can choose to not to push to the maximum ability most of the time but I always want the maximum safety.

We heat with wood at work, and also have a Peterson ASM swingblade sawmill. So we deal with as lot of wood. Brought in this soft maple about 2 weeks ago that was given to us by the lady down the ridge. 28" diam about 12' long.

We also pulled in a lot of downed trees and cut some standing dead ones for fire wood. We use about 18 full cords a year. In the past 2 weeks we have cut split and stacked it all. But in the process the "skidder" found a soft spot. Dispite chains on all 4, it took a truck to pull it out.

Thanks!!! It's EA's single lid Wicked Grapple. Got the WR Long 3rd function valve to run it from them as well. What a time saver!!!

Super! Thank you for the reply.

I figure, 6 cords.

Yep probably close to that. There is another 5-6 cords stacked, but not all of it is in the pic. I have a panoramic view somewhere if I can find it I'll post it. I used to cut between 20-30 cords a year but I'm backing off that some the last couple years.
