Ford (New Holland) 2610 with FEL
I just got a Ford 2610 tractor with a 2400QTfront end loader.

I want to make a quick change adapter for it but want to be sure I do not cut myself off of other premade attachments in the process.

My fabrication skills are good and I can make about anything I want. In this case I want to remove the bucket and put on some brackets for attaching to various implements. Is there a standard width and/or size to make these or are most made for specific tools as needed and no concern for being able to "borrow" an implement from a neighbor?

I would hate to build an entire system for this and all the implements and then find out that had I made it 1/2" wider everything in the world would fit it.

So, is there a standard I should try to meet? Can anyone share a design or some specs to help me with this?

Everything I find appears to be company X's specific design and other companies have their own design as well. I can strive to match up with a generic set of specs o I can make my own version for all my stuff and not plan to borrow or rent anything.

Suggestions?

If you google skid steer quick attach specs you will find the dimensions. Same thing for euro/global quick attach dimensions.

You can buy the quick attach blank plates for adding to buckets or making your own quick attach tools, I'd advise purchasing one to convert your bucket and to give you a template to make your SSQA carrier on the tractor to fit.

WR Long does make a pin-on SSQA tool carrier, not sure if it fits your loader bush hog loader. EverythingAttachments carries the SSQA blanks in standard and heavy duty models and they could best direct you as to which you would want. They also carry the WR Long pin on carrier.

Awesome guys thanks.

See what I can do to locate one locally I can copy. Those are out of my reach right now.

The Skid Steer version is the one to go for I take it. I think I can find a Skid Steer to inspect closely.

Yes the SSQA is about the most common for the compact and small utility tractor loaders. I 2nd the using of a bucket or forks ect to use as a "jig" to build the loader side of the tool carrier, helps get all the angles and spacing just right. I built mine for my kubota a few years back using a set of forks I borrowed from a friend. If you do a search you should find my thread on the build along with several others who have also built there own setup. Good luck and have fun.

Big thing to keep in mind on such a project, skid steers generally have higher capacity lifts than tractors. Adding SSQA makes not only the loader itself heavier, it makes the buckets and whatever attachments you use weigh more, and it also moves the load out from the pins by a couple extra inches. All of these things combined reduce the overall loads you can lift, sometimes on a moderately powered loader, the loss will be beyond what is reasonable.

I personally would go look at various tractor loaders with SSQA as they will be built to a 'lighter' spec more tuned for tractor duty. Putting the SSQA carrier from the front of a skidsteer would likely be WAY to heavy. If you're going to copy one, I'd copy something close to what you need. If skidsteers are all you have access to, I'd only take measurements of the upper pockets and lower pins, and the angles it all sets at. The bulk and heft of the steel it is made from is going to be much more substantial than you will want to use.

I found this with a quick web search. It seems to contain the measurements needed for the implements.

ETA also has this video of the WR Long mentioned above. It shows some nice 360 degree views that should give you some ideas.

Thanks again guys. I have three questions and then I think I can build this thing.

Should I use 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" for the steel? I was thinking 3/8" for everything.

Also does anyone have the width of the top of the plate in the image above (just one side not overall)?

Why are the two holes at the bottom when there is only one rod locking it in?

You can't build anything cheaper than you can just go out and buy. Think about your time, materials, welding consumables, grinding consumables, the time to reinvent what is readily available pretty cheap too.
