I apparently missed something in my 80 years. What is "Soh-Cah-Toa"? sounds like mnomic for a math problem but I have never heard of it.

That's okay I had no idea what it meant either and I am only 60yo. Funny thing is that I use that (3-4-5) almost daily to square things up from buildings, fences, cabinets, and furniture.

The other thing I didn't know was that you can use a computer to figure mass and angles?

I think that Soh-Cah-Toa is part of the NEW MATH program they started teaching the young bucks after us older bucks graduated. I never heard of it either.

For those that dont know or havent heard of it: it is a way to remember what sides of the triangle correspond with sine, cosine, and tangent.

SOH................Sinθ=Opposite/Hypotenuse..........Sine of whatever angle (θ) is equal to Opposite leg length divided by Hypotenuse lenght


CAH ...............Cosθ=Adjacent/Hypotenuse
TOA................Tanθ=Opposite/Adjacent

It's new to me too; but so are a lot of things. I graduated in 1956. I worked in a research lab for 16 years in the age before computers, so I became fairly adept at math with the use of an old army green adding machine. About the only formula I use any more is C=5/9 (F-32) to convert some Canadian's lament to Okie.

And, Signs of angles relating to Opposite leg length and certainly the Hypotense length:D

There are also the three squaws. The one that slept on a mountain lion hide had two kids, the one on the buffalo hide had two kids. However, the one on the hippopotamus hide was beautiful and she had four kids. So, as you can see, the squaw of the hippopotamus equals the sum of the squaws of the other two hides.

That is a Rate Time and distance problem

The distance is the important result. Money just doesn't seem to go very far.....

Time is important too. It doesn't last as long either. It also has a vanishing property.
