Plenty of sunshine again this morning but the wind makes the 4C/39F temperature feel much cooler.


I'm sure lots of you find that rodents are part of rural life, sometimes they are more obvious than others.

When I was given some seed potatoes, they were already sprouting, so I put them in the unfinished workshop to keep away the sunlight. Next day I saw that one had been delicately munched. Lifted the top tray and found many more freshly eaten, so I now have another memento from Mr Weaver - his mice.

On top of that, the builders borrowed a wheelbarrow without asking first. I don't mind them using my barrow at all, except at the time inside was a half full plastic feed sack. They took out the sack and put it on the ground. Unfortunately the rats found the feed sack before I did, and overnight ripped the side and scattered it around. I put out a trail camera to try and see the extent of the problem. Oh dear . Although I do admire their athletic abilities, they need to go and a bigger problem than can be solved by the odd trap. Yesterday I called in the local farm shop to buy a new bucket of "Tomcat 2" (poison laced bait) and got the last one - seems lots are having a similar problem at the moment.

Poured first cup of coffee. 28° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 62° with mostly sunny skies. Didn't do much yesterday. Lawn still needs to be done. On the list today.

It is 64 as I drink my coffee with a high of 76 today. We did get a little rain yesterday, but they are saying a 100% chance today with winds. When I looked yesterday the grass in my field is coming up so I don't have to worry about seed washing or blowing away. But I also can't burn the tree piles in the next one I want to plant

43 with a sunny 69 day on tap.

Mowed the grass, and trails yesterday, and then decided time to change mower blades. Those blade bolts were tight. Had to use a blow torch to heat them up and broke one old open end box wrench when I added a pipe for leverage. I plan to pick up 6 new bolts today while in town, rather than reuse the old ones.

Good morning! 60˚ and the temp is dropping! It is suppose to settle around 58˚ with north winds of 20mph.

My low temp is Roy's high temp today.

Eric, you do have a farm cat don't you? My Gray2 (gray farm cat) keeps the mouse, rat, rabbit, bird and squirrel population down even though I feed him three times a day. He eats everything except the liver on mice, feathers on birds and heads on squirrels.

There was a strange accident in Austin last night. A nurse fell out of a rescue Starflight helicopter and died while they were hoisting a patient out of a steep area. Tragic.

Good morning, 37F here heading to a sunny 63F. Got the aerator together last night and tried it out, works good but need a rain as some spot are pretty hard. They are predicting rain on Wednesday so might try again on Thursday night.
