There is nothing wrong with bucket hooks and chains. They get the job done. I loaded my truck to many times to count that way. Felt like a monkey scrambling up and down. But after a sold enough logs to get some money ahead first thing I bought was a grapple. It is hard to justify a grapple for occasional use.

I built mine on Wednesday. :) Got my forks for $100 and some windshield time, and the frame ran me another 100 in steel.

Looks real nice.

I cleared close to an acre of trees by hand 4 years ago for the driveway and a house. The tractor with bucket hooks is a complete breath of fresh air. Just wish i could have bought the tractor before i built the house. Nothing like having to do things in reverse 😁

Finally got around to doing something worth adding to this thread. Got a white oak from a local tree service. Hoping to yield about 3 cords. Took me about 4 hours to cut everything into rounds, stack them up for splitting, and clean up the saw dust. The tractor was invaluable!

Some good looking wood, and a nice saw (that's what she said ). Hope you have a serious log splitter.
