Any here ever used one of these? Do they work?

I don't either. Have a friend that is backup challenged. I put a piece of masking tape in the center of his tailgate to help him find the center. Still somewhat challenged.

You don't want to be in the same county when my wife backs up

Forget the trailer; imagine him on the road. FWIW, the PC term is Asian man. Oriental left with Disco.:confused3:

Actually, the PC term is probably "man". But then that would be sexist so you'd have to change it to "person". ;)
I agree about the camera's though. I still prefer the mirrors for most backing but the cameras can't be beat for monitoring what's directly behind you. You can back under a trailer hitch with 100% accuracy.

I have one of those devices and have used it for the last couple of years, it is simple and works great worth the money, I did however upon purchasing it had the base "trimmed" with a zip cutter to it better onto the receiver. it took all of five minutes. I think it is a good product.

Cheers

Oh man, you didn't go there! Reminded me of this past winter I asked my wife to move her car away from the kitchen door, to pull up to near the bushes on the side where there is a pull off to park, so I could plow. Later I look out the window and she's 'backed up' her car onto the ramp area in front of one of the barn doors.
Later in the day she tells me she backed into the brush hog, (72" hog), parked off the far side of the apron to the barn door, AND the bumper's HANGING! $600 later, complete new bumper on her '014 Rav 4 lease car. I swear the bumper was installed with CRAZY glue. No protection whatsoever! A bumble bee could have knocked that flimsy POS into orbit! The hog is bright ORANGE. She parked close to it when there was miles of room to park away from it, so she wouldn't be in the way?! How 'bout parking where I told her to park? Problem, expense, aggravation avoided? No, that would be too easy.:confused3::banghead::duh:

I use the foam ball on a magnetic mount from HF. Put one on the trailer hitch and the other on the ball mount. Line up when backing and stop when they move. I can usually get straight to the trailer with no device but once you are there you only have a couple more inches to dent the bumper of tailgate. The horse trailer is easier since it is visible. The flat bed I can just barely see the wheel wells in the mirror once I am within a couple feet. A friend borrowed the horse trailer several weeks ago and they had a backup camera. Did make things easier but I had a hard time looking at it and not behind me. My truck does not have a camera.

Tell you what, our van has a backup camera, and its pretty darn handy! I heard that all vehicles will have them by 2018 by Federal mandate. (Unfunded of course.)

I guess I don't get it? 99% of the time I can back up to my bumper hitch aligned the first time. I simply use my mirrors and center the trailer behind me. :confused3:
But sometimes the trailer is put away 'tucked into a corner' so you can't back up to it centered. When you are backing up to the side of the trailer it's really hard to know where the hitch is without an aid.

In 2008 it was tire pressure monitors. Complete pain (depending on implementation) if you like to run a second set of wheels with snows on 'em.

Few years ago my wife bought herself a new Chrysler 300. The next day she backed it out of the garage to take pictures. Turned too quick and caught the front bumper/fender on the side of the door opening..........
