That is pretty much universal. If a tree has to fall, the one that you don't want to will be the one. Nice big log, for sure.
If only Murphy would contribute enough high quality lumber logs to cover the tab, but he seldom ever does. That said, the trunk on that gum across the race was a good size. Here's a shot from the near side of the river, back down the trunk to the far side:

From earlier this year....the grapple makes wood handling so much easier.

Here's another one
(For some reason the TBN app won't let me post more than one pic per post)

Couple pics from last weekend. First day with the new FX85. Brought in a couple for the mill and a few for the stove. Made things a whole lot easier.

Greenland you will learn to love that nice winch.

A little fire wood every day helps keep the doctor away. This pile turned out to be a little less than a cord.

If I'm in the bush, it's usually from Dargaville and upwards :)

That was a good storm alright. The photos below are from cleaning up after. It often seems to be that the trees in the wide-open spaces are left standing, and the ones that could wreck something are the first to fall.

Looking at those blown over trees pics., what a bushy brushy mess, so what kind of trees do you have down under under under, for firewood or building lumber?
