Rotary Cutter Two problems with Land Pride brush cutter

Once you heated it up did you pry it off? Or what did you use?
We pried it, beat it, after a lot of pain and misery it finally fell off.
I have a land pride RCR 1272.
The center spline has a slight bevel on it. Once you get it to move a little it should come right off.
I've been having an issue on my cutter with breaking the shear pins. I was hoping new blades would help, but I've already been through 2 of them.
My dad bought the wrong bolts at the hardware store and I had to replace the ujoints. I'm not really sure what to do next, because the drive shaft is also new. I ordered it from land pride, it wasn't much more than ujoints.

I would not heat it and take a chance of ruining the seal in the gear box, I went thru same thing and used the top part of an automotive jack stand. I turned it over and placed the flat part of the stand down thru the access hole across the blade carrier and then took a sledge hammer and hit the small end that was sticking up. Once it moves at all being the shaft is tapered it will fall right off. After all my struggles this idea worked like a charm.

I banged on the blade attachment through the access port about 50 whacks with a 3 lb hand sledge and a block of 2x3. Did seem like anything happened. Bigger hammer?

You have to get serious with it. I used the top of the jack stand and a 16lb. Sledge hammer and it came off the first good hard hit. Wood is going to absorb the shock more so than steel to steel.I have removed mine twice over the years.

does this mower have a hole on the back to access the blade bolts, if so no need to remove stump jumper. should be able to tighten gear box from top side.

It does. But the gearbox is mounted in a raised section so that I couldn't seem to access them: the disk is pretty close to the housing. Getting at the nuts for the blades is easy enough through the top access hole.

There is also a hole in the center of the stump jumper, but the angle is just acute enough that while I can get a socket on the bolt with a ujoint, it binds up when I try to tighten it.

After buying $30 worth of large metric sockets - isn't this SAE?

can you get someone else to give you a hand , if so if you can at least get enough grip on the nuts from underneath have the other person use another wrench to tighten them from the top. Save a bunch of work trying to remove the carrier.
