Wow. I bought 40 acres of land here for 40,000. Let me see a half ton pickup or 40 acres. That was an easy one for me. I built a house on the 40 acres also.

Yeah, back in the 1980's it was $1500/acre around here for vacant farmland. Now its closer to $8000/acre and most everything that goes up for sale is now at auction with reserve price, so you can forget about it as corporation are bidding it up. Very, very hard for individuals to get large acreage around here anymore. Farmers are selling out, then hiring back out to the corporation that buys their land. It big business now.

I use buy a new diesel pickup every three years or so, not anymore, the prices are insane, now I buy a new leftover AWD car in the 30K range every five years and keep a pickup for as long as it will last and then buy another used one when it's no longer worth fixing..
