My Mahindra 3616 has a plate across the frame directly below the engine oil drain plugs. Plate sure is nice for protection, but makes a mess trying to drain the oil--looks like an oil sprinkler. I have been looking at a couple of the replacement plugs with flow control valves. I am comparing those at www.nospillsystems.com and Fumoto Valve | Qwik Valve™. Both appear quality equipment. I am leaning toward the nospillsystems design so far for my tractor because it appears a little more secure from the drain getting opened accidentally from brush under the tractor because it has a cap over the valve. If anyone has an experience with either one, please share your info and thoughts. Thanks.

I've used the fumoto valve before and it works great. Then I would take it a step further and mount a 3/4 or 1" hydraulic line a couple feet long. Then cap the other end of the hydralic line with a plug. Then when I want to change the oil, I just unscrew the plug and open the valve. I'll tuck the hose into the frame using a pipe clamp for mounting to the wall to keep the hose from getting snagged when the tractor is in use

I don't have any experience with either one and was only familiar with the Fumoto design. I have wanted to install a quick valve on New Holland tractors with Fiat/Iveco engines to allow easier access and avoid the mess on draining oil on tractors with SuperSteer as well. Personally, I am going to get the No Spill system for the same reason you sited; avoidance of it possibly opening in brushy conditions. Also, the No Spill has a similar low profile to the original oil plug.

Or bend a little piece of sheet metal in a vee that you can wedge up on top of the offending cross bar while it is draining. That's what I do when draining the outboard rear axle housings on my Kubota. Just the cheap in me I guess.

How about a "form-a-funnel".. I think i first seen one a few years ago.

Is there no place you can park to let the frame drip-dry?

Drill a large hole in the skid plate, like 2" or so right under the drain plug.

Thanks for the feedback. After reading the reviews, now I think I may go with the hand pump oil extractor. Looks pretty useful for small engines also, so I could probably get more use out of it.

Often wondered if an extractor gets as much oil out as opening the plug. I am kind of **** about getting out as much of the old oil. After all, isn't that the point to this fun excercise?

Good point. Another plus I noted on the no spill systems design is it includes magnets to hold metal debris.
