Oil Change Mess

Leave the drain plug alone.... Get yourself an oil extractor...

No fuss no mess....

One of the reviews on the LiquiVac said it took 45 minutes to extract the oil. Don't sound right. That was on the 3 qt unit. Is that how long it takes?

I use the extractors regularly mostly on marine engines and they don't work very well with cold oil, but 45 min for 3 quarts dose not sound right at all

Or bend a little piece of sheet metal in a vee that you can wedge up on top of the offending cross bar while it is draining. That's what I do when draining the outboard rear axle housings on my Kubota. Just the cheap in me I guess.

Or some of your wife's aluminum foil can make a handy custom funnel / oil flow diverter. And the bonus is you can aggravate your wife by stealing her aluminum foil and not putting it back where you found it.

I know its not completely the same, but changing oil filter on my Harley does the same thing.. makes a big mess. I use the side from a half gallon milk bottle.. makes a great diverter and lasts quite a few changes. Experiment with how you cut it to fit till you find the right size shape.
