Kioti CK35
50 hours on my CK35 since I picked it up in March. I did the service myself but got stuck when it came time to pull the trans filter. Ended up busting off the handle of my chain wrench trying to get it off - I put a pry bar on it :) Anyways the Kioti service rep was kind enough to stop by and he eventually wrestled it off with his wrench. Not sure why they have to be on so tight. Hopefully the next service will be easier. On the plus side I have been extremely happy with the tractor. Cleared out a ton of trees and scrub on a couple of acres of land, cut 20 acres of high grass in the fields, moved a bunch dirt. Here's a pano of the recently cleared land - it was choked with trees, brush and vines before.

Cheers

These filters are famous for difficulty of first removal.

I suspect these are installed (with a dry gasket) before the engine is painted and then that paint gets baked, which would really make the gasket stick

Do a search on stuck filter. Use a chain vice grip wrench. Works good!

An other option is Channellock filter pliers:

I have the 12" model which works well for all the filters on my DK35.

It would be nice if dealers would loosen and re-tighten the hydraulic, HST and engine filters as part of the pre-delivery setup.

They don't want to do it because it runs a risk of "boogering" up the filter. It is one thing to dent and scratch or even make a hole in a filter you intend to throw away , yet another on a new filter that has to last 50 hours.. BUT why doesn't the factory put a ring of tape around the filter joint so paint doesnt get in there and stick it, and maybe use a little fluid on the seal before screwing it on, and fire that dang gorilla that puts them on in the first place.:)

I would up driving a piece of 5/8 all thread thru my first one. It was really on there.

Without a chain-wrench, you're showing up for a gunfight with a pocket knife. Save yourself a lot of grief and just spend the money :)

My filters came off fine... once I got the filter wrench I realized I didn't have! The engine oil drain plugs were a real PIA. Cutting the paint with a razor and a big wrench solved that problem, but half a day later. luckily once the paint is broke the first time its no trouble, as Kioti's gorilla doesn't make house calls:laughing:
