Hello,

My tractor has developed 2 leaks at the same time, seems a bit unlucky.

One is on the front right wheel and I have attached an image.

The other is underneath roughly in the middle of the tractor and I have attached an image.

Both are at joints.

Are they both going to need the seals replacing and how hard is this? Is it better to keep the 2 fluid levels topped up and not work too much?

If so how do I check the fluid for the front wheel and what do I put in it or doors it all come from the one reservoir of hydraulic / transmission fluid?

Many questions and very naive.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks.

Can't tell how bad the leak is from the pics.... If it isn't bad.. I would just keep a watch on the fluids.

.Mine has small weeps .I don't worry about it.. You check the front axle fluid by removing that bolt in the pic..You would use 90 wt. gear oil for front gear case..

If you insist on making repairs, You'll have to separate at those joints ,clean and apply some silicone sealant. The front will be easier than separating the rear .

Like I said.. If it's no works than in the pic,,, I wouldn't worry about it

They only appear to be small weeping leaks but today is the first time I've seen them.

I will put something under the rear one later and see how much comes out overnight.

So you wouldn't replace the seal? Just reseat it with some silicone?

The rear one looked like something I don't really want to be taking on and if it's just a case of keeping on top of the hydraulic fluid then that's fine.

Thanks for your help.

Doesn't look that bad to me either. You can try adding some Lucas Transmission Stop Leak to that from axle. I did that several years ago.......stopped the leak around the seal for several years. I eventually replaced the seal but the stop leak helped for a long time. Good luck.

From the pic. of the front.... I don't know if the small weep is coming from a seal or just a gasket... If it's just a gasket.. I would separate where the 2 parts join ,clean and use high temp silicone.. If it's a seal,, replace the seal... They just don't look bad enough for me to worry about... It's your call though

For the front axle keep it topped off with LUCAS POWER STEERING STOP LEAK until it stops leaking. For the other assure that there are no loose bolts causing a leak and wipe with a rag if it bothers you, until it gets much worse.

I have ordered some and will give it a try. I will see how much the central one has leaked tomorrow and then decide what to do.

Thanks.
