Brian - Yep. I have it in my mind to rent it again for a month in Spring/Summer. ....Gary

You might want to take a look at my web site. I added a new King Kutter model to the site that is a QAT series. If you look at the McCormick blades they are manufactured by Taylor Pittsburgh.

The hydraulic units would be to big.

Thanks,

I have a Massey Ferguson 1540 with a Landpride 84" rear blade. I am looking to replace the LandPride as it is way to light and the construction is far to weak. I live aon a 6800 acre ranch and have 17.9 miles of gravel road to grade during the summer and the LandPride blade just bounces over the washboards unless the roads are really moist. I have been running with my tire chains bolted to the blade to add an extra 350 lbs. which works much better but is a pain in the butt when it comes to adjusting the blade angle. I would not recommend the LandPride unless you are going to be doing only light weight work.

Which Land Pride blade do you have? Yes the Op's question about an RB1584 at 289lbs is very light for that width. But if you would get an RBT3584 @ 709lbs without any options and well over 800lbs with hydraulics and skid shoes, that blade should work well for you.

If you have almost 18 miles of road to maintain with your MF 1540, you might want to consider not only a rear blade in excess of 100lbs per foot of width, but a land plane grading scraper. (LPGS)

Thanks for the feedback. I have the 1584. I was not aware of the RBT3584. It is a little more pricey then I wanted to spend but with all the hydraulics it might just be worth it.

As with most implements, you get what you pay for. For most grading implements, the weight of the implement is usually a pretty good indicator of the quality of the unit. The RBT3584 would be a very good match to your 1540 in my opinion.

As far as being a 4 year old thread, info is still info although the remark of being to light does not do the OP any good, but it might for someone else searching these things out. ;)

Absolutely...that's why I put a smiley face...just in case he didn't realize the comparison wouldn't help the OP. :D
