Rear tine tiller

I have the Ariens which is the same Model and have it about 4 years and I love it I can not say a bad word about it
Which rear tine garden tiller would you guys recommend?

I was wanting a Troy Bilt Super Bronco but they are out of stock everywhere. Even the Troy Bilt website is out. Then looked at a 17" Husqvarna but with so many complaints I'm shying away from them.

I need something to till between the rows in worked ground for weed control.

I have a Troy-Bilt that I use to till between the rows of my garden. It has the B&S engine and forward rotation and performs flawlessly for it's intended purpose. But it is useless in hard ground. First time my wife tried to use it she was in our yard and let the tines dig in. It drug her for 100' with me screaming for her to let go of the handles. Would have been funny if she hadn't got so scratched up.

With the Troy-Bilt my 90-year old mother can walk down the rows in the garden and till with one hand on the controls.

Just don't expect to till up new hard ground with it.

If your main tilling is with a 3 pth, you might consider something smaller for between the rows. The older Horse models are tough however.
I finally wore my first unit out; it was a 1973 and on it's third motor, but I had put in a lot of new gardens with it which can be tough on the gears. I finally wore the differential out.

Any thought towards a mini tiller for weeding between the rows? I don't garden, but I have several friends that use a 3 pt tiller for the prep work, and use a Mantis or Stihl unit for between the rows weed control.

How's your Mantis for getting it started? Fresh gas with premium 2 cycle oil and mines always difficult to get started and keep running until it's warm. It's been like this since new. I've got other 2 stroke equipment that doesn't give any issues with starting and running. When it does run good it does a good job in shorter rows and areas.

Does anybody use one of those cultivaters that go on a multi-use head? It seems like a good way to work the ground in closer to the plants.
