Looking to buy a 45+ hp Hydrostatic tractor

One thing to keep in mind on resale value is the original cost. Compare the original cost and the used value to determine how much is actually costs to own. Some people simply look at how much green tractors sell for used and think it's a better deal without actually plugging in numbers like the original cost to get an accurate cost of ownership number.

Good luck on your purchase. I enjoy having a 45 HP tractor around the house.

Great point. I sold my Kioti after a year and 250 hrs for $1000 less than I paid for it new. Similar experience with LS.

So mechanically, no red flags against any of them? Sounds if all are saying "fit". Such as controls in convenient locations? I will try to find time to sit on the seat. Likely JD will be out due to price.... for no return better than the others. No plastics/fiberglass from any brand. Saw a Montana cab unit sit on the side of the road for sale for 2 years. In my area, it JD, NH, Case,. Kubota, Mahindra and a few Kiotas

I bought an 2 yr old Kioti, kept it 8 years and sold it for $1,200 less than the purchase price. So about $150 per year depreciation. When you buy an up and coming brand you do well on resale if the brand is better known when you sell than when you bought.

Looking like the 3550 Mahindra. Now to decide on the cab or not? Truth is, this is just a big toy. It would be nice to have a cab. Head clearance is the only thing that concerns me????

Out of curiosity, if you are not getting the machine with a loader, why don't you just get attachments for your skid steer? You can invest in a Harley rake and hydraulic mower for a lot less money than you will have into a 3550.

I looked at buying a harley rake today for my skidsteer. Likely I will rent. They assured me that come october, I could have one whenever I wanted it... if given 24 hrs notice. LOL, I have been afraid my wife would ask this same question. Truth is, I just want a tractor for food plots. I have considered the tiller on my skidsteer.... considered a bush hog on my skidsteer, but I go much faster on a tractor... without beating me to death. And I have learned through trial and error how to make short work of my food plots. They grow up, I bush hog one lap, turn plow under and disc the the dirt without a sign of it having been grown up an hour before. From head high weeds to planted in the same hour. I could not do this with the skidsteer tiller. But, LOL, I have considered it. And fact is that I likely will not haul both skidsteer and tractor to the job site for soil prep. A harley rake can accomplish that of a box scrape. LOL, I am busted. I just want a new shinny tractor. I think about my Father. He recently retired. Worked all his life and has lots of money.... yet he has several old piece of crap tractors that he keeps up. I keep telling him to go buy himself something he will enjoy, a good tractor, he deserves it. His only hobby is gardening, playing on the tractor and giving away vegetables . He is stuck in some other century where he can't allow himself to enjoy the fruits of his earnings and investments. I don't want to be that way. Assuming one can afford it, I think we should enjoy our few years of good health.
